Swedish Match North Europe AB, org. nr. 556571-6924 (”Swedish Match”) operates the website swedishmatch.ch (“The Website”). Through The Website you as a consumer can buy products from Swedish Match through a private import. These terms and conditions (“Conditions”) are valid for every product order you as a consumer place on The Website.
By placing your order you confirm that you have read, accepted, and agreed to comply with these Conditions. You also certify that you acknowledged the information about personal data and consent to the use of your personal data according to the Swedish Match personal data policy.
We recommend you to print out these Conditions and save the document in case you need it in the future.
Swedish Match reserves the right to change these Conditions at any time. Every change will be published on The Website and is valid from when you accept the Conditions through a new order. The provisions in the Swedish Consumer Purchases Law (1990:932), the Swedish Distance Contracts and Contracts outside Business Premises Law (2005:59), and the Swedish Personal Data Law (1998:204) apply to all purchases made by consumers through The Website.
Please note that through The Website Swedish Match can only ship to addresses within Switzerland.
Order and purchase agreement
Through completing your order you confirm that you have read and accepted these Conditions. The purchase agreement will only be concluded after your order has been confirmed by Swedish Match through a confirmation e-mail to the address you provided when placing the order. Please note that you need to be at least 18 years old in order to be able to enter into a contract with Swedish Match and the contract can only be concluded with consumers with a delivery address in Switzerland.
People under the age of 18 cannot shop at The Website. In order to be able to shop you need to verify your age when entering The Website and also when completing the purchase. In addition to confirming your age yourself, you as a cardholder need to be 18 years or older to complete the transaction. Through our payment partner DIBS, we also manually verify the customer’s age for each order. This is necessary because tobacco is a regulated product only for adults (18 years or older).
When ordering through UPS (Standard and Express) you also need to present a valid identification at delivery. Thus, only the person placing the order at The Website can receive the order.
An order made in another person’s name (falsification of a document), or in any other way that causes Swedish Match to risk a financial damage, will be reported to the authorities. Swedish Match reserves the right to refuse to carry out an order if irregularities or misuse of our order function are suspected.
It is possible for you as a consumer to import oral tobacco for private use from Sweden to Switzerland. The Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (Office fédéral de la santé publique) has issued guidelines for the amount that can be considered as private use. In accordance with these guidelines Swedish Match recommends you as consumer no to buy more than 1.2 kg of snus within two (2) months.
Prices and fees
All prices and costs on The Website are quoted in Swiss franc (CHF), including the product prices throughout The Website, the shipping costs (when entering the checkout), and other costs that may be added to your order at delivery in Switzerland (such as value-added tax (VAT), customs fees and other costs). Special fees may apply in case of an unredeemed package.
Before completing your order at the checkout, you have to choose the delivery method, after which the costs for your order, including shipping costs, will be calculated. Possible incorrectly stated prices will be corrected when Swedish Match sends you the order confirmation to your e-mail address.
The highest total costs for your order, including VAT, customs and other costs will also be calculated for you at the checkout. However, these total costs are only an estimate based on the size of the package.
Since an order at swedishmatch.ch means that you, as a buyer, privately import snus to Switzerland, it is the Swiss customs service who at the end calculates which fees will be added to your order. Swedish Match can therefore not guarantee the extra charges for VAT, customs and other costs that may apply to your order.
Payment at the time of purchase (products and delivery)
The card payment at The Website is carried out by Swedish Match’s payment partner DIBS Payment Solutions AB. For the card payment we accept the following credit cards: MasterCard, Visa and American Express (AMEX).
Payment of additional costs (customs, VAT, and tobacco tax)
Placing an order on swedishmatch.ch is classified as a private import of snus from Sweden to Switzerland. When importing snus from Sweden to Switzerland, it is subject to special fees related to customs, VAT, and tobacco tax. Because of these fees, we can’t guarantee the final price of your order at the time of purchase. These fees are calculated by the Swiss authorities and separately charged to you as consumer before you can receive your package.
If you choose delivery with mail you may get an invoice from Swiss Post related to the charges of customs, VAT, and tobacco tax.
If you choose the home delivery UPS (Standard and Express), you may get an invoice via e-mail for the costs related to customs, VAT, and tobacco tax. That invoice will be sent to the same e-mail address you used for your online payment. UPS will only deliver your package after you have paid the invoice.
We want to be as clear and transparent as possible about what your final total order costs may amount to. At the checkout, we thus present calculations of the extra charges for customs, VAT, and tobacco tax that may be affecting the total price of your Swedish Match delivery including shipping. This, however, is just an estimate and Swedish Match can’t guarantee that our calculations are correct. The final fees are calculated and collected by the Swiss authorities.
Swedish Match personal data handling
Personal data is handled according to the Swedish Match personal data policy. By ordering products at The Website you confirm that you have read and accepted the Swedish Match policy and that the personal data you have stated is correct.
Swedishmatch.ch offers the following shipping alternatives:
- Delivery to your mailbox: For shipments of up to 10 cans, sent to your mailbox. Swedish Match does not take on the responsibility for extreme weather conditions that complicate delivery to your mailbox. Swedish Match also does not take on the responsibility that the order will fit in your mailbox, depending on the dimensions of the mailbox, safety box, or cluster box unit. Swedish Match sends these orders in packages with dimensions of 35cm x 24cm x 2.7cm.
- Home delivery with UPS (Standard & Express): for orders of up to ten 10-packs (100 cans), sent directly to your doorstep. Home delivery usually refers to a delivery to the front door or property line of the address. At delivery, valid ID documents must be shown.
When placing your order, you will get an e-mail from UPS with the tracking number and a link where you can track your order and see the expected delivery date. UPS will make three delivery attempts: If you’re not available at the first attempt, UPS will try again twice. With the previously mentioned link and your tracking number you can change your delivery address between the three attempts for free.
Please note that you can purchase a maximum of ten 10-packs (100 cans) per order and day. Please also note the Swiss customs authority’s guidelines about what is considered a private import for personal use, according to which you are only allowed to import up to 1.2 kg per 2 months.
The usual delivery times are as follows:
- Delivery to your mailbox: 3-5 work days (sent as a letter).
- Home delivery with UPS Express: 1-3 work days.
- Home delivery with UPS Standard: 3-6 work days.
The delivery times are calculated from the time of our order conformation via e-mail.
Generally, if an order is registered before 2 pm on a work day, the delivery times are calculated from the same work day. If an order, however, is registered after 2 pm on a work day, the delivery times are calculated from the next work day. For orders registered on Swedish holidays, the delivery times are calculated from the first work day after the holiday. When Swedish Match sends out your order, you will also get an e-mail to the address you provided. If, after 7 work days, you still haven’t received your order, please contact our customer service at email@example.com or via phone +46 0200-113 114 (only Swedish and English) and we will help you. Should Swedish Match for some reason not be able to deliver your order and has notified you of that, you have the possibility to cancel your purchase by contacting our customer service as described above.
A package shipped with UPS will be sent back to Swedish Match if you have not been able to redeem it in one of the three delivery attempts to your address. If that happens, you will be charged CHF 33 attributable to the administration, shipping, return shipping, and handling by Swedish Match. Unredeemed packages are usually not seen as an exercise of your rights of return.
Complaints and returns
If a product differs from the purchase agreement or does otherwise not correspond to the description provided by Swedish Match, you as a consumer have the right to make a complaint about the product to Swedish Match.
In that case you’re welcome to make a complaint about your product. You can find all information on how to file a complaint here.
The right of complaint only includes faults at delivery (and not faults that for instance occurred due to the product’s expired shelf life or due to normal wear and tear). You need to notify Swedish Match about the fault within a reasonable time from when you discovered or should have discovered the fault and at the latest three years after you received the product. Swedish Match therefore recommends you to carefully inspect products directly upon receiving them.
Depending on the type of product fault (e.g. smell/taste of the snus) we may require you to return the product to us. You are responsible for the products you return. Swedish Match thus recommends you to package the product in a way that doesn’t risk damages during transportation. The product should, if possible, be returned unused and in its undamaged original packaging (e.g. do not write, tape, or put stamps on the original packaging).
Depending on the extent of the damage you will be able to get a replacement, remediation, or a price reduction. As a last resort, you may be able to return the product. In case of an approved return, Swedish Match will compensate you for the costs of the product, except for costs incurring due to return shipment without using the return slip. For further claims, exceeding the costs of the product, Swedish Match will act in accordance with the Swedish Consumer Purchase Law.
In order for issues regarding transport damages to be resolved as quickly as possible, we kindly ask you to keep the product packaging for inspection. In order to be able to return products you also need to prove your purchase from The Website, for instance through the order confirmation or receipt Swedish Match sent to the e-mail address you provided in connection with your purchase. Once we receive your return, we will send you a confirmation via e-mail.
Right of withdrawal and returns
When shopping online as a consumer, as a general rule you have a right of withdrawal of 14 days according to the Swedish Distance Contracts and Contracts outside Business Premises Law (2005:59). The right of withdrawal, however, does not apply to the purchase of snus or Lutschtabak, as these products are perishable goods with a limited shelf life.
Return of discounted products
For purchases that contain promotional gifts or special discounts, the value of the promotional gift or discount is seen as a general discount on the total amount of the purchase. If a part of the purchase is changed and/or returned, returned products are valued at their purchase price minus their relative share of the general discount. In case a product is changed, no conversion of the original basis for the discount or promotional gift is made.
Promotions or offerings of such promotional gifts or special discounts are only available for new purchases via The Website and can’t be obtained retroactively. A promotional gift or a discount cannot be transferred to other purchases and cannot be credited when changing a product.
Swedish Match is not required to fulfill the purchase agreement if the fulfillment is complicated due to an event outside of the reasonable control of Swedish Match (e.g. changed legislation, government measures, strikes, blockades, sabotage, war, terrorism, fire, floods, natural disasters, or other extraordinary events). Such circumstances also relieve Swedish Match from the obligation to pay compensation. If these circumstances last longer than two (2) months, both the consumer and Swedish Match have the right to cancel the purchase with immediate effect.
Price and product information on The Website
At Swedish Match we strive to make sure that all information provided on The Website is correct, but with reservations for limited availabilities and possible errors in pictures or writing, e.g. errors in product descriptions, incorrect prices, or erroneous information about stock availability. Swedish Match furthermore reserves the right to correct such errors at any time and change or update information. All pictures on The Website are intended as illustrations and cannot guarantee the exact appearance or condition of the product.
By submitting a product review on The Website, you give Swedish Match the right to publish it on The Website and other channels and media. Swedish Match also reserves the right to not publish and/or delete submitted reviews.

Swedish Match complies with the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes’ recommendations.
Disputes between Swedish Match and a consumer may be referred to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes for a judgment. The address of the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes is Box 174, 101 23 Stockholm and their website is www.arn.se. As a last resort, disputes can be resolved through a general court, whereby the Stockholm District Court would be the first instance.
